Sara, this is very true and has been known by scientists for over a decade. One of my lecturers at Uni had been involved in this type of research. I remember her telling us we need 10 portions per day, but because it may be too overwhelming for people to achieve it, the French government made the guideline recommendation at 5 per day so it could be more achievable. In her research, it could prevent Alzheimer’s disease for a lot of people (can’t remember the number from the study, it was 18 years ago!). But it had to be started early on, like in your 20’s-30’s) to be really protective.
Thanks, Sara, for the info. What do you recommend on how much water to drink and percentage of calories from carbohydrates, fat, and protein?
Hello Peter, thank you for reaching out. Answering those questions is difficult as it’s different from one-another. I have here a deep dive about water intake: https://www.zenithwithin.com/p/dehydration-could-make-you-age-faster?r=52ius3. Hope it helps and don’t hesitate to reach out.
